A simple contest between the Player and the Bank.
Punto Banco, or Baccarat as it is sometimes also known, is a highly popular game at The Empire Casino. The Dealer draws two cards for the Player (Punto) and the Bank (Banco). The value of the two cards in each hand are added together, and the nearest to 9 is declared the winning hand.
Both cards in your hand have a points value as follows: Ace is counted as 1, number cards up to 9 are counted at face value, and 10 and picture cards are counted as 0. The points on the two cards are added together. If the total goes over 10, then you ignore the first 10 points and only include the remaining points. The nearest to 9 will be declared the winning hand.
For example, if your two cards are an 8 and 7, then this gives you a total of 15. By ignoring the first 10 points, your hand achieves a score of 5. The scores will always range from 0 to 9, and you cannot bust.
Winning bets for the Bank pay 19 to 20 (or even money less a 5% commission), winning bets on the Player pay 1 to 1, winning bets on any tie pay 9 to 1. On the individual egalites (ties) these vary. In the event of an egalite, Banker and Player bets are a stand-off.
